Which Bow Is Right For You To Shoot Archery Correctly

In order to shoot archery accurately and consistently you need to chose a bow that suites your preference and one that will give you the best performance. It is always best to try a few different kinds of bows to shoot archery so that you get a true feeling of which works best for you.


You should be focusing on the draw length of the bow first. This is the length from the hand that is holding the bow to the one that holds the string in draw position. Andrew, Englands cricket captain, met GB archers Alison Williamson and Simon Terry at Lord's Cricket Ground, to shoot some arrows at targets on the pitch.

Andrew had said that Lord’s would be a first class venue for Archery at the London 2012 Olympic Games, just as it is for cricket.

He was also quoted as saying that he was excited at the prospect of watching Archery in such as spectacular setting, and it will be great for Lord's profile to be a part of Olympic history.

The venue is easy to get to by bus and tube from central London. St John’s Wood tube station is on the Jubilee line, making it quick to get to the Olympic Park and other east London venues. Lord's has a spectator capacity of 6500

Great News About the 2010 Pro Archery Series Entry Forms!

European Professional archery made an announcement on their site in regards to the 2010 Pro Archery Series event at  Fort van Lier on August  21/22. The entry form is now open for new competitors.

They had only been accepting early entries from other Pro Archery event competitors as a reward for competing well at other events and for supporting the Pro Archery series.

They have now opened that kindness to say they will receive ALL form early entries, but on a first come first serve basis.

They will post the  Official Entry List on July 20th, 2010.  There will be no changes or late entries after that date and the general entries will be open.

Archery Shooting, Knowing the different Archery Targets

To shoot archery targets, knowing what type of archery targets there are, and what works best for you, is part of mastering the skill of archery shooting. There are several types of archery shooting targets. The most popular and used more frequently are the 3D archery targets. In addition you have the Block archery target, Foam and paper.

The block and foam archery targets are designed to make the arrow come out with ease, the archer could remove it with one hand. Learn To Master Your Archery Shooting

In order for one to learn to shoot Archery targets they must first understand the basics. Shooting arrows from a bow at a target. Scores are counted individually during the game and the archer with the highest score at the conclusion will win the competition. Easy enough right? Wrong!

As simple as it sounds it is a bit more complex then that and requires extreme concentration, form and skills not to mention comprehensive archery instruction. Target Archery and Field Archery are the two types of the sport. To explain a bit further would be that these types consist of shooting one target from different distances.

Field archery is different from Target Archery. Field archery is to shoot archery targets of varying (and often unmarked) distances, often in woodland and rough terrain. Target archery can be anything from 3D target archery, most common in the US, to indoor target archery. The distance you are required to shoot are different for each type of competition. There are different requirments and Archery ranges between the two.

The bows that are used to shoot archery targets are made of materials like fiberglass and  carbon and they have stabilizers attached to keep it steady while the archer shoots. Generally, bows are mostly used in  field archery. The arrows hold a pointed metal tilt at the front and a furrow in the back which makes hole over the bowstring. Some of the most common archery targets are the FITA target (3D Archery deer target) the vegas target (3D archery bear target) and the 5-spot target (3D Archery turkey target.

Indoor 300 events will only shoot 20 yards. In a field tournament, however it requires the archer to shoot 80 yards at the longest. With FITA events, it could require you to shoot 90 meters. There are two types of archery targets Out Door and In Door. The diameters of the standard faces in the out door archery are approximately 122 cm and 80 cm. the 122 cm face is collected of a loop in the center of 24.4 cm diameter, which is circled by four concentric bands.

The 80 cm face is composed of a round in the center of 16 cm diameter and it is also circled by four concentric bands. The width of each circle is around eight cm. Both the target faces are colored from the middle outwards in gold, red, blue, black and white.

The center of the gold is known as the pinhole, it should be marked with a tiny cross, and its lines should not surpass 2 mm in width.

The archery targets should be set up at one end of the ground. These targets should be appropriate at an angle of around 15 degrees and there should be pinholes 130 cm + 5 cm above the land. The altitude of the pinhole on a line of faces should be straight while looking at any time. All the archery targets should be visibly numbered and the shooting line should be exact, in order for the archer to shoot archery targets they will have to take up a shooting position over that line.

The shooting marks including discs and flat markers should be placed opposite the targets at the proper distances. These shooting marks are used to consider the number of the target. A waiting line should be painted five yards behind the shooting line.

The area on the ground where spectators are allowed to enter will be roped off. This tells people that they are not allowed to pass the border.
